Information about windows
Rebate seal or middle seal?
Generally, there are two types of sealing systems used in GEALAN windows: rebate seal – used in the S 3000, S 8000 IQ and S 8000 IQ plus systems – and middle seal – used in the S 7000 IQ and S 7000 IQ plus systems.
Rebate seal
The majority of vinyl windows use rebate seals. The dual elastic weather-strips are located on the indoor and outdoor edges of the rebate. Should water enter the rebate, the sloping shape of the GEALAN profile inside the rebate directs the water to "weep holes" that lead outside.
Middle seal
Middle seal systems also have a gasket along the indoor side of the frame, but the second gasket seals against a stopper that is in the middle of the frame rebate. The middle seal also works as an additional barrier to thwart burglars. The outer rebate channel of the middle seal system is designed to catch and drain water, directing it through the weep holes back outside.
Conclusion
Controlled laboratory tests have led to the conclusion that both systems are practically equal in quality. Both middle seal and rebate seal systems provide for airtight seals under the harshest conditions.
