New technique for affixing panes in window manufacture
With its new STV® static dry glazing, GEALAN introduces a new adhesive technology for manufacturing vinyl windows. Unlike the conventional gasket glazing, where the lite is affixed with the help of a glue compound, the new GEALAN concept is based on a new adhesive band developed especially for the dry glazing of the lite. This new technology, named STV®, primarily makes it possible to prepare more profiles ahead of time with the preconfectioned profiles already fitted with the adhesive strips.
Higher level of preparation through adhesive strips
The core concept in the STV® static dry glazing method is the special high-performance strip that is attached to the extruded profile. The strip and profile are then delivered as a single unit to the manufacturer. The profile can then be processed normally, without investing in new tools or machinery. Cutting, welding, trimming and glazing can be performed with only minimal changes to the accustomed workflow.
Larger elements, better U-values and more security
The combination of STV® technology with conventional steel stiffeners allow for the creation of even larger elements than were previously thought possible, and lead to an improvement in their function. Another possibility is that conventional window sizes can now utilise alernative stiffeners, with much better thermal insulation values. Even special constructions can benefit from the increased stability.
When the steel stiffeners are dispensed with, the new fixation method results in fundamentally better U-values. When manufacturing normal-sized white vinyl elements with the new STV® technology, the steel stiffeners can be waived entirely. This can bring about an improvement in the U-values of up to 0.2 W/m²K, depending on the profile combination.
The surface-wide fixation of the pane and the casement with the STV® technology also improves the security, making it much harder to lever out the pane.
