25 Years of GEALAN and HÖNING: Uniting High Standards

About 150 employees work at HÖNING. In Jesewitz, northern Saxony, the company produces around 70,000 building components annually, approximately 80 percent being PVC windows. These are made from GEALAN profiles. Over the past 25 years, HÖNING GmbH has become one of the largest GEALAN customers in Germany. 

This anniversary was recently used as an occasion to look back on the collaboration and celebrate their shared achievements. At the request of management and staff, an evening trip on the water was organized, specifically on the Elbe. From Dresden’s Terrassenufer, the floating event venue embarked on a roughly three-hour cruise. A small delegation of GEALAN and HÖNING staff was on board, some of whom have known each other for many years through close cooperation.

No Quality Compromise

What connects both companies is evident not only at the anniversary celebration but also in daily work: GEALAN and HÖNING share the common goal of continuous development. Both companies demonstrate a high degree of digitalization as a sign of modern and efficient operations. Additionally, both drive complementary services for their partners to solve customer issues and create added value. Their standards for their own performance have been high for many years. “I want to build the most beautiful windows,” states HÖNING CEO Peter Schouren, “and also implement the best processes – both within our company and in customer interfaces.” Investments in software solutions, configurators, and a partner portal ensure this. “I can tell every customer where their product currently is,” emphasizes the company head. 

Visually sophisticated windows and doors in trendy colors at HÖNING are largely made from PVC profiles provided by the design systems GEALAN-KUBUS®, GEALAN-LINEAR®, or the GEALAN system platform S 9000. 

Michael Funke, Head of Profile Systems Sales D/A/CH/Si at GEALAN and a long-standing contact, maintains constant communication with the window manufacturer. “Both companies are innovation drivers. Together with HÖNING, we work on developing high-quality windows and doors for the market. Continuous exchange is extremely important here. We regularly touch base on services, exchange ideas, and identify challenges.” 

Topics GEALAN and HÖNING tackled together included the demand for especially slim sashes, forward-looking logistical concepts such as “just in sequence,” and sustainable solutions based on CO₂-optimized BALANCE window profiles. Almost always successfully, as Peter Schouren confirms: “GEALAN listens openly to us. Our wishes and suggestions are heard, and action is taken. That’s how it should be!” 

“We Don’t Need a Couples Therapist”

The gratitude for having come this far together was also apparent during the anniversary cruise. In his opening thank-you speech, GEALAN CEO Ivica Maurovic praised the always trustworthy partnership with HÖNING GmbH: “You couldn’t wish for better collaboration.” Peter Schouren echoed this: “I’ve heard that you should always put passion into a relationship, and we’ve managed that very well with GEALAN.” With a smile, he added: “My conclusion: We don’t need a couples therapist.” 

1,200,000 Meters of GEALAN Profiles Processed 

HÖNING processed around 1.2 million meters of GEALAN profiles last year alone. This length could almost cover the distance from GEALAN’s headquarters in Oberkotzau, Upper Franconia, to the Croatian port city of Split. Ivica Maurovic put this scale into perspective to highlight the cooperation: “HÖNING is one of the top PVC window manufacturers in Germany. But for us, it’s not just about numbers; passion, innovation, and trust are what make this partnership so valuable.” 

Before transitioning to a cozy evening together for the 25th anniversary, the HÖNING management received their well-deserved golden partnership certificate from their longtime GEALAN contacts.
